Family Trip with Meenal @Thailand

Image
Family Trip with Meenal @Thailand I fed a baby tiger in Thailand India has ancient connections with Thailand. The princess of Thailand is a Sanskrit scholar. Their kings are known as Rama after Lord Rama and their old capital was called Ayutta (Ayodhya). A lot of people equate Bangkok and Pattaya in Thailand with massage parlous , lady boys  and sleazy places for adult entertainment. This is unfortunate. Thailand has so much more to offer to the entire family. The Thai people are social, talkative and happy to serve, which makes interacting with them a real pleasure. Wherever I went, I found good hearts, open arms, and smiling faces. When I reached Bangkok, I did not want to wait to reach Pattaya because I had heard so much about the place. The moment I reached, I freshened up in my hotel room and left. The first place I visited was the spectacular Nong Nooch Botanical garden, where many wild animals like tigers, elephants, and leopards are to

Haridwar-Rishikesh in times of Corona Virus

Haridwar-Rishikesh in times of Corona Virus   I had booked the trip to Haridwar-Rishikesh a month back. Now with the Corona virus making headlines across the world, I had to decide if I wanted to make the trip or stay put. Since the number of cases was still low and the government had not yet issued an advisory, I decided to proceed as per plan. I have great faith in God. I surrendered myself to Him and left Mumbai. My flight landed in New Delhi at 8 am that day, and the cab that I had booked from Delhi Airport  took me to Haridwar where I was to spend the day. As soon as I got a cab from Delhi Airport straight way I went to Chidambaram Restra at Lodi Colony Delhi. This is my favourite restra for South Indian Food. I had yummy breakfast there and left for Haridwar.  It was 2 pm when I reached Hotel Vinayak, Haridwar , which is 2 km from Haridwar  railway station and 3 km from the ghat where the Ganga aarti is held. Hotel Vinayak is clean, spaciou

My heart is in Uzbekistan

Family Trip with Meenal @UZBEKISTAN My heart is in Uzbekistan I miss  Uzbekistan  since my last trip there. I'll be back soon, my love! Have you watched the YouTube channel HAVAS guruhi? It is an Uzbeki band of two sisters and a brother who sing songs from Bollywood films, which are very popular in that country. The Havas guruhi band has also performed for rock singer Baadshah, Karan Johar and the music director Shekhar Ravjiani on the singing reality show Indian Idol?  Uzbekistan is a Central Asian nation and former Soviet republic, which was once ruled by Hindu and Buddhist rulers before it became Muslim.  So their ties are very old as well as very much alive. I found Uzbekis to be very friendly with Indians and feel a cultural connect with Indian music, dance, and films. Raj Kapoor songs are a big hit with the older generation, while the newer generation follows the new stars. Once they learn that you are Indian, there is an instant connection with most peo

Family tour with Meenal @Darjeeling- lataguri- Siliguri Darjeeling- lataguri- Siliguri If you plan to visit the hill station of Darjeeling in West Bengal, Bagdogra, situated a little over three hours away, is the closest airport. It has been less than a week since I visited Darjeeling, which is jannat (heaven) if you are a nature lover. I reached Darjeeling early in the morning. The greenery took my breath away. The temperature was a pleasant 10 to 11 degrees centigrade. The people are very friendly and it is a great setting for enjoying steaming cups of chai with some adrak and lemongrass if you are a chai person like me. I visited Mall Road at Night, it was really awesome…. full of lights and I had hot momos there , which I normally missed in Mumbai. Nxt morning I went for Lataguri. I visited the Lataguri Zoo at 6 am and exited it at 8 am. The zoo, which is also known as the Gorumara National Park of Lataguri (An hour from Siliguri), is situated on the edges of the Lat

Family Trip with Meenal @Gangtok

Family Trip with Meenal @Gangtok GANGTOK – Land of mist, greenery, and romance   Gangtok is an experience that has to be lived to be understood because words are inadequate to express its richness.  I was overwhelmed by the vast open spaces, the cloud-filled skies, the low temperature, and the greenery. It is something you should come and experience yourself.  Of the highlights of traveling to Sikkim is a visit to the Tashi viewpoint with its amazing view of the Kanchenjunga mountain ranges. Unfortunately, I was not able to do Tashi Point on this trip because the weather had affected the visibility but I do intend to visit the place next time. There is also Nathu La pass, which connects India and Tibet. Nathu means ‘listening ears’ in Tibetan and La means pass. Nathu La falls on the ancient silk route that connected China to other nations of the world. It continues to play an important role in the India-China trade. Passes are issued in Gangtok in advance and
